5 Misunderstandings of Distinguishing Quality between Cotton Nonwovens Used in Sanitary Napkins

by:Sunshine     2021-03-13
With the continuous improvement of human living standards, the quality requirements of sanitary products have also changed. Take sanitary napkins as an example. Cotton nonwovens are becoming more and more popular in the market due to their natural, soft and comfortable advantages. Came to consult with a generation of sanitary napkin processing customers, and they are also optimistic about cotton spun non-woven products. At present, there are no national or industry standards for the quality evaluation of cotton nonwovens. There are five errors in the evaluation of the quality of non-woven fabrics by users and consumers. Misunderstanding 1: The way of forming a web is better than combing it. There are two ways to form a web, namely cross-laying and combing. The cross-laid net has two-way strength, good abrasion resistance, not easy to pilling, but easy to side leakage. The advantage of carded net is not easy to leak side, easy to rub and blur. Since the sanitary manufacturer can choose the process according to different products, generally sanitary napkins choose to be combed into nets, and diapers choose to cross nets. Misunderstanding 2: Cotton fabric is the characteristic of all cotton non-woven fabrics. Cotton shell is a natural impurity in cotton fibers, which can move and fall off, so it must be removed, otherwise it will bring some potential dangers to sanitary napkins and diapers. Some people use cotton husks as the basis for identifying cotton non-woven fabrics. In fact, this is misleading. The identification of cotton is very simple. As long as the burning cotton burns without peculiar smell, the burning ash will not enter a ball and roll. Misunderstanding 3: The larger the amount of water, the better. Sanitary napkins and diapers use cotton non-woven fabric as the surface material. If the water absorption is too strong, the surface will be very humid, uncomfortable, and bacteria will grow, so ensure that the sanitary napkins and diapers are dry. The moisture content of the fabric is more important than water absorption. Misunderstanding 4: Fluorescent agents are not allowed. Everyone is advocating that health products without fluorescein are good. We know that without fluorescein, it is of course the best, but it cannot be done in the actual production process. Cotton is a natural plant. It is the seed of the cotton sea anemone family. The cotton fiber is derived from the seed. It contains natural oils and can show fluorescence. In the non-woven fabric production process, it is impossible to remove all grease to ensure absolutely no fluorescence. Currently, most cotton nonwovens are used in sanitary products, not medical products, so there is no need to prohibit fluorescence. The simple identification method is: at night, turn off the peripheral light source, use ultraviolet rays, irradiate the cotton non-woven fabric, and do not fluoresce, which is a qualified product. Myth 5: PH should be neutral. Many people think that non-woven fabrics in contact with the skin should be neutral, with a pH between 6.5 and 8.5. This is a misunderstanding. Human skin is weakly acidic, especially infants, so the appropriate pH should be between 4.0 and 7.5. All cotton non-woven fabrics can be implemented with reference to the A and B products in the GB 18401-2010 National Basic Safety Technical Specifications for Textile Products.
