By 2020, more than half of the world's non-woven fabrics will be produced in Asia.　　 Research by Textile Intelligence, a business information company, shows that between 2001 and 2011, the production of non-woven fabrics almost tripled. Last year, Asia's production accounted for more than 40% of global production.　　Only in 2011, the production of non-woven fabrics in Asia increased by 7.4% to 3.1 million spindles. It was 10.0% on the market in 2010 and 13.1% on the market in 2009.　　 Such a strong growth rate reflects the increase in the use of non-woven fabrics in Asia, as countries in the Asian region continue to industrialize. In addition, the development and innovation in the field of non-woven fabrics has led to the beginning of new applications of non-woven fabrics, said Textile Intelligence Research.　　Among the major non-woven fabric producing countries in Asia, China's production accounts for two-thirds, approximately 2.1 million tons.　　The most important types of non-woven fabrics produced in Asia are spunbond and meltblown non-woven fabrics, with a 44.2% share. However, the fastest-growing type of non-woven fabrics is spunlace non-woven fabrics, which grew at an average annual rate of 20% between 2008 and 2011, and will increase by 21.8% in 2011 alone.　　 Many analysts predict that in the next few years, in several end-use markets in Asia, the application of non-woven materials will increase without limit, including medical and sanitary fields, filtration, agriculture and geotextiles.　　 In addition, China and India will become potential markets for this use.　　 However, if Asian non-woven fabric manufacturers can realize their full potential, they will invest in advanced technology and production equipment, as well as the use of high-quality man-made fibers and functional fibers, the report said.
