New high-performance solutions for automotive interiors

Two new formulations for automotive interior surfaces and dashboards: Geon™ VBX 3577 vinyl powder for automotive interior surfaces; and Geon™ VBX 3600 series dashboards with seamless airbags have been intrduced by Polytech Million companies. These two formulations can provide the benefits of cycle time reduction, allowing processors to increase profitability while meeting the tough low-temperature OEM performance requirements of slush-molded automotive interior parts. In trial tests with existing materials, these two solutions showed a 15% reduction in cycle time and reduced energy costs, leading to higher production efficiency. The new material also provides a 35% reduction in scrap rate to enhance the consistency of the coating, thereby reducing material bridging and partial defects. 'These formulas are specifically designed to help automotive Tier 1 suppliers improve their efficiency in a challenging business environment,' said James Petrie, Marketing Director, PolyOne Color and Additives. 'These new materials can increase customer profitability by increasing productivity and reducing overall system costs. 'The purpose of VBX 3577 is to provide production efficiency improvement for all automotive interior surfaces that require a temperature performance of -30°C. VBX 3600 is formulated to meet strict OEM safety standards and requirements below -36°C. The two new solutions for airbag rating dashboards are now available to customers all over the world.
