Non-woven fabric anti-ultraviolet function finishing and performance evaluation

In recent years, due to the destruction of the ozone layer, the ultraviolet radiation reaching the ground has increased, and excessive ultraviolet radiation can cause harm to the human body. Non-woven protective clothing, covering materials, and geosynthetics used in the field under strong ultraviolet light should also have ultraviolet protection performance. At present, there are two main methods for forming the anti-ultraviolet properties of fiber materials: anti-ultraviolet fiber method and anti-ultraviolet finishing. The anti-ultraviolet fiber is the process of polymerization or melt spinning, adding an ultraviolet absorber or shielding agent, etc., to prepare an anti-ultraviolet fiber and make it into a non-woven material. Anti-ultraviolet finishing is to combine the anti-ultraviolet finishing agent with non-woven materials by padding, coating and other methods, so that the non-woven materials have certain anti-ultraviolet function. (3) Finishing process of anti-ultraviolet finishing agent There are two main anti-ultraviolet finishing processes for non-woven materials, namely padding method and coating method. Since most of the ultraviolet absorber is insoluble in water, it is planned to be formulated into a dispersed phase solution, which is processed by the process of padding→drying→baking. For some absorbents that have no affinity for fibers, adhesives should be added to the working fluid or processed by coating finishing methods. It can also be used in combination with some inorganic ultraviolet reflectors for better results. (4) Evaluation of anti-ultraviolet performance There are two main indexes for the anti-ultraviolet performance of non-woven materials. 1. Ultraviolet radiation protection strips (UPF) The UPF value refers to the ratio of the time required for ultraviolet radiation to reach erythema after a certain protective product is used and the time to achieve the same degree of damage without the protective product. The higher the UPF value of the protective product, the stronger the protection against ultraviolet rays. 2. Ultraviolet light transmittance The average value of ultraviolet light transmittance of the protective material in the ultraviolet wavelength range is measured by an ultraviolet spectrophotometer. Experiments show that after anti-ultraviolet finishing, the UV transmittance of the protective material is greatly reduced.
