Non-woven shopping bags are new sources of pollution?

After the implementation of the plastic restriction order, the usage of plastic shopping bags in Weifang's major supermarkets has been reduced by about, while non-woven shopping bags, which are substitutes for plastic bags, have been sought after. Many citizens think that the raw material of non-woven fabrics is plastic and difficult to degrade. Relevant experts pointed out that non-woven fabrics are environmentally friendly materials that can degrade under light conditions. On the 23rd, the reporter learned from several major supermarkets in Weifang city,'Plastic Limit Order' After that, non-woven shopping bags were welcomed by the public. Many supermarkets launched promotional activities for redemption and shopping of non-woven bags, encouraging citizens to use less plastic bags. At the Ginza supermarket service desk, reporters saw many citizens buying non-woven shopping bags. Supermarket personnel said that after the implementation of the plastic restriction order, supermarkets will carry out promotional activities for the exchange of non-woven shopping bags, which can exchange 700 or 800 non-woven bags a day at ordinary times and reach thousands on weekends, at present, more than 17000 non-woven bags have been purchased. At present, wanjiafu supermarket has given and sold more than 40 thousand non-woven bags. In the face of the hot sale of non-woven bags, some people pointed out that the raw materials of non-woven fabrics are actually plastics, mainly including polypropylene (Accounting for 62% of the total)And polyester (Accounting for 24% of the total) Two, they can not only be degraded, but once used in large quantities, it will also cause huge consumption of non-renewable resources such as oil. In this regard, Han Wenquan, an associate professor at the Textile College of Shandong Vocational College of Science and Technology, who has been engaged in the production of non-woven fabrics, expressed his views. He said that the raw materials of plastic bags are mainly polyethylene, which has strong stability and is extremely difficult to degrade, so it even takes hundreds of years for plastic bags to be decomposed. Although polypropylene, the main raw material of non-woven fabrics, is a kind of plastic, it is not as difficult to degrade as polyethylene. At present, the degradation methods of non-woven fabrics include biodegradable, photosynthetic degradation, water degradation, etc. The non-woven fabrics are mostly made of polypropylene fiber and cellulose fiber. Polypropylene fiber is easily decomposed under sunlight and has little environmental pollution. It is a relatively environmentally friendly material, moreover, with the improvement of domestic non-woven fabric production technology, some manufacturers will add light degradation additives to accelerate its decomposition. Since the non-woven bag can be recycled, it indirectly reduces the consumption of oil and is a good substitute for plastic bags. Non-woven bags produced by regular manufacturers and inspected by relevant departments can be safely used by citizens.
