Viscose staple fiber and polyester staple fiber are widely used in non-woven fabrics

by:Sunshine     2021-04-05
In recent years, the application proportion of viscose staple fiber and polyester staple fiber in the non-woven fabric industry has increased. However, due to performance constraints, their products are mostly used in the spunlace non-woven fabric industry, and a small part is used in needle-punched non-woven fabrics. In the textile industry, other non-woven fabrics account for very little.

Viscose Staple Fiber for Non-woven Fabrics—High White Viscose Staple Fiber

In 2019, the existing production capacity of China's viscose staple fiber industry was 4.985 million tons, and the apparent consumption was 3.692 million tons, of which about 11% was applied to the field of non-woven fabrics. In the non-woven field, the requirements for the whiteness index of viscose fiber are higher. The industry usually refers to the viscose fiber used in the field of industrial textiles as 'high white viscose fiber'. At present, there are 5 enterprises in the country that produce over-white viscose staple fibers. In 2019, the total output of high-white viscose staple fibers was 420,000 tons.

At present, most of the domestic mainstream manufacturers of high white viscose staple fiber perform the whiteness test according to the ordinary viscose staple fiber testing standard (GB/T 14463-2008). At present, the whiteness of most enterprises has reached about 90%.

Polyester staple fiber for non-woven fabrics—spunlace polyester staple fiber

In 2019, the annual production capacity of China's polyester staple fiber (melt direct spinning) industry was 7.901 million tons, the actual output was 6.252 million tons, and the domestic consumption was around 5.62 million tons, of which 11.15% was applied to the non-woven fabric field. The application of polyester staple fiber in the non-woven industry is mainly spunlace non-woven fabrics, while a small number of fields are used in the needle-punched non-woven fabric industry.

In terms of specifications, spunlace polyester staple fiber is mainly 1.56dtex*38mm, while needle punched non-woven staple fiber is mostly 2.22dtex*51/65mm. From the point of view of origin, the current production of spunlace polyester staple fiber is concentrated in Jiangsu. Among them, the supply of Yizheng chemical fiber, Suzhou Jiangnan, Jiangyin Huaxi chemical fiber is basically the same, and there are a small amount of spunlace type in Zhejiang, Anhui, and Fujian. Staple fiber is produced, with a total production capacity of around 900,000 tons, about 30% of which is used for export.

Types of non-woven fabrics

There are many types of non-woven fabrics. According to the manufacturing process, they can be divided into spunbonded non-woven fabrics, spunlace non-woven fabrics, needle punched non-woven fabrics, melt-blown non-woven fabrics, and thermally bonded non-woven fabrics. Cloth (including hot air, hot rolling and ultrasonic bonding), pulp air-laid non-woven fabric, wet non-woven fabric, stitch-bonded non-woven fabric, hydrophilic non-woven fabric. At present, the production process of China's non-woven fabric industry is mainly spunbond.

Types of non-woven fabrics required for masks

Due to the impact of emergencies, the demand for masks has increased due to increased equipment. Medical surgical masks and N95 masks generally adopt a multi-layer structure, referred to as SMS structure: the inner and outer sides are spunbonded layers (S); the middle is melted. Spray layer (M) is generally divided into single layer or multiple layers. Flat masks are generally PP spunbond + meltblown + PP spunbond, and three-dimensional cup masks are generally PET polyester needle punched cotton + meltblown + needle punched cotton or PP spunbond.

It can be seen that the non-woven fabrics required for masks are mainly spunbonded and meltblown, and the fiber diameter of spunbonded non-woven fabrics is relatively thick, about 20 microns. The process of meltblown non-woven fabric is to feed polymer-melt extrusion-fiber formation-fiber cooling-net formation-reinforcement into cloth. Melt-blown fibers can reach 1-5 microns in diameter, and are generally made of polypropylene with high-melt fat fibers. These ultra-fine fibers with unique capillary structure increase the number and surface area of u200bu200bfibers per unit area, thereby making melt-blown fabrics With good filtering, shielding, heat insulation and oil absorption, meltblown cloth can be called the 'heart' of medical surgical masks and N95 masks. However, the domestic output of meltblown non-woven fabrics is relatively low.

Can the mask be spunlace nonwoven?

It is useful, but relatively few. Nowadays, some mask companies choose to use spunlace cloth for the inner layer, because it can absorb moisture and wick away perspiration, does not produce moisture, and is soft and comfortable. And on February 10, a subsidiary of Huamao Co., Ltd. stated that the pure cotton spunlace non-woven fabric produced can be used as the inner layer (skin layer) of N95 masks. China Textile Institute's product WeisaierTM (English name NWCELLTM) has been applied to medical masks and other fields.

Raw material of spunlace non-woven fabric

The surface of spunlace non-woven fabric is more delicate, and the production process is cleaner than needle punching. Its largest application is in sanitary materials (including medical materials, wet and dry wipes, beauty products, etc.), followed by synthetic leather base fabrics, and finally others Industrial clothing, filter materials. And because most of the spunlace uses are disposable sanitary materials, it is necessary to improve the degradability in consideration of environmental protection, so the main raw material of spunlace nonwovens is mostly bio-based fibers, but currently domestic spunlace nonwovens The main raw materials of cloth are polyester and viscose, and it is expected that viscose, cotton and other bio-based fibers will be gradually or gradually emphasized. At present, the national spunlace non-woven fabric production enterprises are mainly concentrated in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, as shown in the figure below.

In summary, whether it is high white viscose staple fiber or spunlace polyester staple fiber, only a very small amount is used in the production of masks, but it depends on the degradable and flushable characteristics of spunlace non-woven fabrics. , It will gradually be widely used in sanitary materials and other aspects.
